What is block Exemption?

Previously, motorists were required to have their vehicle serviced and repaired at the main dealer to prevent invalidating the vehicle's warranty. The EC block Exemption regulation 1400/2002 (Oct 2003) enabled all motorists more flexibility in selecting where they can get their car serviced and repaired.

Due to this legislation, maintenance and service work does not have to be done by the main dealer as long as all parts fitted are of matching quality to those originally fitted to the vehicle.

The block exemption regulation (BER) covers service and maintenance during the warranty period and prohibits vehicle manufacturer’s warranties from including conditions that require:

  • All normal maintenance be provided within the vehicle manufacturers network.

  • All parts used must be the manufacturer’s original parts.

So what does this mean to you?

BER safeguards free competition in aftermarket services, repairs and parts and will benefit you by reducing the cost of servicing and maintaining your vehicle while keeping the warranty on your vehicle valid.

At HS Autoservice we can guarantee to match the standards of the manufacturer and beat the cost by up to 60% on all your vehicle maintenance and repair needs.
